Melinda Bowker provides individual and group singing lessons, focusing on classical and contemporary music. Students learn about holistic singing, correct vocal technique and health, song interpretation, microphone technique, aural skills and music theory.
Whether you are singing to improve confidence and build self-esteem, or an aspiring professional, Melinda provides a safe, inclusive, comfortable space where students can enjoy progress without judgment.
Lessons are taught in her private studio or online aligning with the NSW school calendar and term dates.
Teaching Philosophy
Melinda’s teaching consists of tailored individual and group singing lessons focusing on classical and contemporary music. Her teaching philosophy is informed by Kodaly, Orf-Schulwerk and Dalcroze methodologies and focuses on the Kodaly approach for learning to sing.
She provides holistic, integrated and neuro-inclusive singing lessons for individuals and small groups from beginners to advanced learners aged 5 years and over.
Melinda’s special focus areas are building a strong technical singing foundation for students to have the confidence and ability to perform across folk, classical and contemporary musical genres.
She offers a unique combined holistic approach to singing. This mindfully integrates the breath and body to relieve muscular tension and improve vocal control and versatility as a performer.
Biography
Melinda Bowker is a classical vocalist, concert collaborator, and seasoned performer for multi–lingual singing in English, French, Italian, Latin, German and Arabic. She is currently studying her bachelor of Music through Central Queensland University in partnership with the Riverina Conservatorium of Music in Wagga Wagga, having performed in many choirs and community events. She has won numerous awards, and has been performing since childhood.
As a co-director of The Green Beetle Company, Melinda developed and performed leading roles in shadow theatre concerts The Thief of Stars (Curious Rabbit, 2021), A Coo-ee for Marie (Temora Museum, 2023) and The Alchemist’s Jar (Charles Sturt University Playhouse, 2023), as well as Le Beirut (Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, 2021) and Renaissance Art + Song (Museum of the Riverina, 2017). Most recently she has performed the original collaborative concerts Goha & The Flea (2025) for the Chau Chak Wing Museum in the University of Sydney and Tortoise & Hare (2025) for the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery. She has also performed as a soloist for International Women’s Day in Wagga Wagga, the Bye Bye Blackbird Gallery in Cootamundra, and the Christmas concert Eve in December 2025 at the Civic Theatre.
